A Champion of Music and Community
Born and raised in Richmond, Carlehr Swanson is more than just a titIeholder-she is a passion ate advocate for the power of music and education. A fourth-year Ph.D. student at the University of Virginia, Carlehr specializes in Critical and Comparative Studies in Music and holds multiple degrees in Jazz Studies and Vocal Performance.
Her community service initiative, "Bridging the Divide: Music is Unity," is rooted in her belief that music has the power to connect, heal, and uplift. Inspired by a visit to her grandmother's rehabilitation center as an eighth grader, she now organizes workshops and free performances to bring music to those who need it most.
In addition to her advocacy, Carlehr serves as the spokesperson for the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority's Miss Virginia School Tour program, where she educates students on substance abuse prevention and the importance of making healthy choices.
