Kind of firm at first, but feels like it will soften up a little with use. Very nicely constructed and exactly what I was expecting. The seats are a little shallow- not very deep, but I knew that before I purchased it, but for the quality and the price, it's a great sectional. Seems like it should hold up good with the kids and a dog.
