Trends We’re Watching at Market

The High Point Market’s Future Snoops trend preview offers a glimpse of what’s inspiring the design world this fall, and we’re here for it. The 2025 theme, “Club Kitsch,” reflects the mood of optimism and nostalgia shaping today’s interiors.

In times of uncertainty, people are gravitating toward comfort, familiarity, and playfulness. Club Kitsch channels the mid-century mood of carefree leisure—think Slim Aarons’ iconic poolside glamour, Palm Springs-inspired color palettes, and the relaxed sophistication of resort living.

This trend embraces:
  • Joyful color: vibrant hues that evoke sunshine, optimism, and effortless fun
  • Retro-modern shapes: curved furniture silhouettes that feel nostalgic yet fresh
  • Indoor–outdoor harmony: blending living spaces that flow seamlessly from inside to out
  • Versatile comfort: pieces that encourage relaxation, social connection, and self-expression

It’s all about bringing that vacation state of mind home, creating spaces that feel playful, personal, and unmistakably happy.

Beyond Club Kitsch, our buyers are looking for:
  1. Natural materials and tactile textures: woven fibers, linen, and warm wood tones
  2. Sustainable craftsmanship: quality furniture built to last, not replace
  3. Mix-and-match styling: layering patterns, colors, and eras to create personality-rich rooms
  4. Comfort-first design: plush seating and performance fabrics for family-friendly living
Our goal is to bring these exciting looks to our Grand showrooms, combining comfort, quality, and timeless appeal for every space in your home.

Sleep Better Tonight: Simple Solutions for the Most Common Sleep Problems
Sleep Better Tonight: Simple Solutions for the Most Common Sleep Problems
A good night’s sleep shouldn’t feel impossible. Yet millions of people struggle with sleeping hot, snoring, trouble falling asleep, or waking up sore and stiff. The good news? The solution often begins with your mattress.

At Grand Home Furnishings, we help customers every day find the perfect mattress that supports better, deeper, and cooler sleep. If you’re tossing, turning, or waking up tired, keep reading. Your next mattress could be the key to solving your sleep problems for good.

1. Sleeping Hot: How to Stay Cool All Night Long

The Problem:
If you wake up sweating or constantly kick off the covers, you’re not alone. Traditional memory foam traps heat, making temperature regulation nearly impossible for warm sleepers.

The Solution:
Modern mattresses feature cooling gel foam, open-cell technology, and moisture-wicking covers that pull heat away from your body.

Brands like Tempur-Pedic, Sealy, and Beautyrest use advanced materials designed to keep you cooler and more comfortable all night long.

💡 Pro Tip: Look for mattresses labeled cooling, hybrid, or climate control. These combine airflow-enhancing coils with breathable foams for the best temperature balance.

2. Snoring: Why Your Mattress Might Be to Blame

The Problem:
Snoring isn’t just an annoyance. It can signal poor sleep posture or airway restriction caused by the wrong sleeping position.

The Solution:
An adjustable base paired with the right mattress can dramatically reduce snoring. By slightly elevating your head, you open your airways and make it easier to breathe quietly and comfortably.

Pair an adjustable base with a responsive memory foam or hybrid mattress for optimal alignment and support.

💤 Bonus: Adjustable beds are great for reading, watching TV, or relaxing before bed too.

3. Trouble Falling Asleep: Finding Comfort Faster

The Problem:
If you spend more time staring at the ceiling than sleeping, your mattress might not provide enough comfort or pressure relief to help you relax.

The Solution:
Choose a mattress that matches your sleep style and body type.

  • Side sleepers: benefit from softer, contouring mattresses that cushion shoulders and hips.
  • Back sleepers: need a medium-firm feel to support proper spinal alignment.
  • Stomach sleepers: do best on firmer surfaces to prevent sinking.

The right fit helps your muscles relax faster, reducing restlessness and helping you drift off more easily.

🌙 Did You Know? Many mattresses now include motion isolation technology to minimize movement from a partner, preventing tossing and keeping you awake.

4. Aches and Pains: Wake Up Refreshed, Not Sore

The Problem:
Waking up with back or joint pain is a sure sign your mattress isn’t giving proper support. Over time, sagging or uneven surfaces can misalign your spine and strain pressure points.

The Solution:
Invest in a mattress designed for orthopedic support or zoned comfort layers.

  • Memory foam and hybrid models contour to your body’s natural curves.
  • Innerspring models with reinforced lumbar zones give extra lift where you need it most.
  • Premium brands like Stearns & Foster and Serta use high-density materials built to maintain support for years.

💪 Tip: If your mattress is eight years or older, it’s likely time to replace it. Your body and back will thank you.

Furniture Safety Week: Simple Steps to Keep Your Family Safe at Home
Furniture Safety Week: Simple Steps to Keep Your Family Safe at Home

Grand Home Furnishings is proud to join the Alliance4Safety this Furniture Safety Week, October 6–10 to raise awareness about furniture-related hazards in the home.

From 2013 to 2023, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reported that 58 children lost their lives due to furniture tip-overs, and another 50 from accidents involving both TVs and the furniture they were sitting on. That’s nearly one child a month that was lost over the course of the ten-year period.

These tragedies are preventable and this week, we’re helping families across Virginia, West Virginia, and Tennessee learn practical ways to make their homes safer.

Furniture Safety Week

Why Furniture Safety Matters

It can be easy to overlook the everyday items that make our homes comfortable, but furniture can pose hidden hazards, especially for young children.

Tip-overs, unstable bunk beds, power recliners, and even glass tabletops can cause serious injuries. Furniture Safety Week is about shining a light on these risks so families can take simple, affordable steps to prevent them.

And this message isn’t just for parents; grandparents, babysitters, and anyone who welcomes children into their home should review their spaces too. Even if kids only visit occasionally, securing furniture and checking for hazards can help prevent serious accidents.

What Is Furniture Safety Week?

Organized by the Alliance4Safety, this initiative brings together furniture manufacturers, retailers, interior designers, and safety advocates to promote one common goal, keeping families safe at home.

Throughout the week, participants share resources, product safety information, and home safety checklists to help reduce preventable accidents.

“Hidden hazards can exist in even the safest homes. Furniture Safety Week is a reminder that small precautions can make a big difference.”

5 Simple Ways to Keep Your Home Safe

1. Close the Drawers on Tip-Overs
Even lightweight dressers and storage pieces can tip over if a curious toddler starts to climb.
  • Always anchor furniture with drawers or shelves to the wall.
  • Store heavier items in lower drawers.
  • Keep toys, remotes, or decorations off high surfaces where kids might try to reach.

2. Stay on Top of Bunk Bed Safety
Bunk beds are fun and functional, but they come with safety rules:
  • Children under age 6 should never use the top bunk.
  • Look for guardrails that meet current safety standards.
  • Avoid beds with tall post extensions or decorative finials.
  • Use the exact mattress size recommended for both bunks.

3. Relax Safely with Recliners
Power recliners and lift chairs can be fascinating to kids, but moving parts pose risks.
  • Keep children and pets in sight when adjusting your recliner.
  • Teach kids never to play around reclining mechanisms.

4. Keep Safety in Clear View with Glass Tabletops
Each year, 2.5 million people, mostly children under seven, are injured by broken glass tabletops.
  • Choose tempered glass, which shatters into small, safer pieces.
  • To check if your table is tempered, look through polarized sunglasses. If it is tempered glass, you’ll see a faint grid pattern if it is.

5. Stay Tuned to TV Safety
TVs can be top-heavy and easily tip if not properly secured.
  • Whenever possible, wall-mount your TVs.
  • If wall-mounting isn’t an option, place them on a low, sturdy cabinet or console table.
  • Use a TV anchor to secure the unit to the wall or furniture.
  • Never place a TV on lightweight or unstable furniture.
